Our Tree Planting Initiative at Ringshall Grange

Welcome to Gold Bear Removals Brighton

As you may have seen on our eco removals page, we joined forces with the lovely people at Ringshall Grange in Suffolk to help them plant a vast amount of trees. Ringshall Grange is grade II listed moated manor house who had lots of open space and wanted to create a safe environment for local wildlife by planting a forest in conjunction with the woodland trust. Who taught us how to plant the trees and care for them.

We thought as a green removal company it was important to go the extra mile in the fight to protect the environment. If you would like to know how you or your business can get involved with either helping or donating then please check out our planting trees page. In the meantime check out what we learnt from our amazing days on site.

Breaking ground!

There was a huge delivery of saplings at Ringshal grange on a cold morning in March 2017. The team began carefully transporting the saplings from the front drive to the back garden.

They were planted into a tree nursery where they would remain for the next few months until they were strong enough and big enough to be planted. They were watered and well cared for.

We came back in May and we were taught the process of how to plant the trees.

Firstly, take about 5 trees from the nursery area. Not more than this as the tree roots do not like to be exposed to oxygen for too long. Once you are practiced, you can plant about 5 trees in 7-10 minutes.

Decide whether the trees are going to be planted in rows or if they are going to be more sporadic and natural looking. Both have their benefits and it’s completely up to you.

You need to lever out the root with a spade or pitch fork. You want to get about a foot deep into the soil so that it fully covers the roots of the tree. It also need to be deep enough to support the tree standing up! Once the ground has been opened up sufficiently, the tree can be placed carefully in the ground and the soil replaced. Stamp down the soil gently to pack everything in place so the tree looks comfortable and upright. Then, move on to the next one.

The trees are best spaced 2 meters apart so be aware of other planters planting nearby.

Once this is done, you, or another person in the chain can come along with a 6ft wooden stake and hit this into the ground a couple of inches from the tree. Then a tall cylinder or tube is placed over the top of the tree to protect it from the wind and animals. This is then bound to the stake with a cable tie.

There you have it! Your tree is planted!

Planting trees is one of the most effective ways for companies to reduce their carbon footprint and make a positive impact on the environment. Trees are natural carbon sinks, meaning they absorb and store carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, helping to mitigate the effects of climate change. In addition to their carbon sequestration abilities, trees also provide a wide range of other environmental benefits, making them an important green initiative for companies to undertake. One of the most significant benefits of planting trees is their ability to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Trees absorb carbon dioxide through photosynthesis, which is the process by which they convert sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide into oxygen and energy. By absorbing carbon dioxide, trees are able to reduce the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, which helps to mitigate the effects of climate change. Additionally, trees also store carbon in their biomass, which helps to keep it out of the atmosphere for long periods of time. Trees also have a number of other environmental benefits, including improving air quality, conserving water, and reducing the urban heat island effect. Trees act as natural air filters, absorbing pollutants and releasing clean oxygen into the air. They also help to reduce the amount of water runoff, by slowing down the flow of water and allowing it to be absorbed into the ground. Furthermore, trees also help to cool the air temperature in urban areas, which can reduce the need for air conditioning and energy consumption, resulting in lower energy bills and a reduction in the company’s carbon footprint. Planting trees can also have a positive impact on the local community and biodiversity. Trees provide habitat for a wide range of wildlife, which can help to conserve biodiversity. They also provide a range of ecosystem services, such as pollination and pest control, which can support local agriculture and food production. Furthermore, trees can also improve the quality of life for local communities by providing shade, reducing noise pollution, and creating green spaces for recreational activities. In addition to these environmental benefits, planting trees can also be an effective way for companies to promote sustainable and socially responsible practices. By investing in tree planting initiatives, companies can demonstrate their commitment to environmental stewardship and improve their reputation among customers, employees, and other stakeholders. Furthermore, by engaging employees in tree planting activities, companies can also promote a culture of environmental responsibility and increase employee engagement and motivation. In conclusion, planting trees is an important green initiative for companies to undertake in order to reduce their carbon footprint. Trees act as natural carbon sinks and provide a wide range of environmental benefits, including improving air quality, conserving water, reducing the urban heat island effect, and supporting local biodiversity. Additionally, planting trees can help to promote sustainable and socially responsible practices, improve the company’s reputation, and increase employee engagement and motivation. Therefore, companies should consider investing in tree planting initiatives as a means of reducing their carbon footprint and making a positive impact on the environment.
